Early Life and Debut She wanted to be a singer when a child. She started learning the piano at 3, and wrote her own lyrics at 12. In junior high school days, she became a great fan of Ringo Shiina and influenced by Shiina’s music style very much. Yearning after her, she also started the practice of the guitar by self-education at 14.
In February, 2002, she passed a demonstration tape examination at the Sony Music audition of 37,319 application totals at the age of the second grader of Sapporo Junior High School attached to Hokkaido University of Education. She was chosen as the Sapporo area representative and got the opportunity to make her debut as a singer. She went to Tokyo frequently to take the singing lesson for one year when she was in the third grade of junior high-school.
In March, 2003, she went to Tokyo to debut with graduating from a junior high school alone, and belonged to a certain Tokyo municipal senior high school. Then the demo which she submitted at the time of audition caught the attention of Susumu Nishikawa who is a session guitarist and a producer of many singers, such as Hitomi Yaida, and was also her idol Ringo Shina's sideman at the time of the debut. She contracted with SME Records Inc. affiliated with Sony Music Entertainment (SME), and it was determined to make Nana's debut by producing of Nishikawa.
On October 29, 2003 when a half year passed since coming to Tokyo, she released her first single Kesenai Tsumi (Inerasable Sin). It marked the 16th in the chart of Oricon.
On August 24, 2005, her first album 18-eighteen was released. She held her first official concert after that.
